2009 LSMMA: Become a Member

School and community groups may schedule educational programs on weekdays by calling 218-720-5260 - Ext. 1 for an appointment. There is never an admission charge to the Visitor Center or any of its programs.

The Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center is operated as a free service by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District. The Boatwatchers Hotline number is (218) 722-6489. The schedule of vessel traffic and web cam of Duluth Ship Canal from the Visitor Center is also available at www.LSMMA.com and www.duluthboats.com during the shipping season.

 
"The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association seeks to preserve the maritime heritage of Lake Superior and the Port of Duluth-Superior; to cooperate with the Corps of Engineers so as to acquire, preserve and exhibit maritime artifacts, documents, publications, and photographs; to fund development and presentation of educational and promotional programs, events, and publications pertaining to Lake Superior, the Great Lakes, and St. Lawrence Seaway System; to support the Lake Superior Maritime Collection at the University of Wisconsin-Superior; to assist other organizations in promoting and protecting our maritime heritage; and to achieve the above with a growing membership of involved citizens who will provide financial resources through their membership and activities. "
